I remember a few years a swan nested right beside the footpath on the grand canal somewhere near Leeson St and people had to keep an eye on it incase some nutter attacked it, but I can't find any info about it anywhere.....

Swan in the Park
This Swan has built a pretty amazing nest on one of the little islands in the pond in Herbert park. I'll be keeping my eye out for ugly ducklings in the near future, apparently it takes about 5-6 weeks from when they are laid.

Jesus. You'd have to have some fairly major issues to attack a swan. Not least because they are likely to then stalk and kill you. Little known fact. My sister had a weird ability to talk to swans when she was young but lost the ability as she grew up. She would make a noise in her throat and they would all come up to her and squawk back.
